Classroom Facilities
The Wildlife Technology Program at Penn State DuBois is dedicated to a hands-on style of learning. To preserve this students have access to:
- Large specimen collection containing skulls and skins of numerous North American species
- Equipment from canoes, mist nets, GPS units, and binoculars
- Specimen preparation area including sinks, prep tables and refrigerators
- Modern computer faculties throughout campus, including a computer area dedicated solely for use by wildlife students
Outdoor Classrooms
While many of our classes are taught in traditional classrooms, the Wildlife Technology Program at Penn State DuBois also includes many outdoor laboratories. Some of the places we visit on a regular basis include:
- Parker Dam State Park
- SB Elliot State Park
- Clear Creek State Park
- Cook Forest State Park
- Moshannon State Forest
- Allegheny National Forest
- Jennings Environmental Center
- Pittsburgh Zoo
- Benner Spring State Fish Hatchery
- Kyle Lake
In addition, many of our students have the opportunity to take trips during their time at Penn State DuBois either through classes or extracurricular activities. Some of the places we have visited to date include:
- Hawk Mountain Sanctuary
- Algonquin Provincial Park, Ontario, Canada
- Pine Barrens, New Jersey
- The Everglades, Florida
- Lake Superior
- Smoky Mountain National Park
- Haldeman Island
- Presque Isle State Park
- Pymatuning State Park
